At HoopsPlus, we respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it. This Privacy Policy details how we handle the information collected from our mobile application (the "iOS App") and companion Apple Watch application (the "watchOS App").
1. Apple HealthKit & Fitness Data (Critical Compliance)
HoopsPlus integrates directly with Apple's HealthKit framework to provide comprehensive fitness tracking, cardio-zone metrics, and calorie calculations.
Types of Data Collected:
- Heart Rate Data: Used to calculate basketball cardio intensities and heart rate reserves using the Karvonen formula.
- Active Energy (Calories): Used to estimate physical exertion during drills.
- Workouts (Activity Log): Used to save training sessions directly into your Apple Fitness history.
- Demographics (Date of Birth): Used solely on-device to determine your age-based maximum heart rate (Fox formula).
Storage and Sharing of Health Data:
- Strict Isolation: All HealthKit data processed by HoopsPlus is stored locally on your device or securely synced through your private iCloud account.
- No External Sharing: We do NOT transmit your HealthKit, heart rate, or energy data to any external servers, third-party databases, or marketing platforms.
- No Advertising Use: We will never use HealthKit data for advertising, marketing, or profiling purposes.
- User Control: You can revoke HoopsPlus's access to HealthKit data at any time via the iOS Health App settings under Settings > Privacy & Security > Health > HoopsPlus.
2. Motion Sensor & Gesture Data
Our watchOS application utilizes CoreMotion and onboard sensor APIs (accelerometer and gyroscope) to recognize shooting movements, wrist rotations, claps, and double-clenching.
- Processing: Motion sensor data is processed entirely in real-time and on-device (at 50 Hz) to detect shooting makes and misses.
- No Storage: Raw motion data is never saved, stored, or sent to external servers. It is processed in transient memory and discarded immediately after the gesture event is registered.
3. Data Retention
Your workout summaries, shooting charts, and program progress are saved directly to your local device database and synced across your iOS and watchOS devices via Apple iCloud. We do not maintain off-device accounts or store your data on proprietary cloud servers unless you explicitly configure third-party backups.
4. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices or App Store Review Guidelines. Any updates will be posted here with an updated "Effective Date."

Welcome to HoopsPlus. By downloading, installing, or using our iOS and watchOS applications, you agree to comply with and be bound by the following Terms of Service.
1. Intended Use & Physical Activity Disclaimer
- Fitness Tracking: HoopsPlus is designed for tracking athletic training sessions, shooting drills, and dribbling routines.
- Health Disclaimer: Basketball training is a physically demanding activity. You should consult with a physician or qualified healthcare provider before starting any high-intensity training program, especially if you have pre-existing cardiovascular conditions.
- Assumption of Risk: You assume all physical risks associated with performing drills (such as the 1500-Touch workout or 12-Spot shooting circuit) on the court. HoopsPlus is not liable for any injuries, heart conditions, or physical fatigue resulting from your use of the app.
2. HealthKit & Hardware Compliance
- Device Ownership: Use of the watchOS App requires a compatible Apple Watch.
- Permission Requirements: Accurate tracking requires you to grant permissions for HealthKit, Bluetooth, and notifications. We are not responsible for incomplete workout logs, inaccurate calorie estimations, or missed gesture tracking resulting from disabled permissions.
3. Intellectual Property
All workouts, programs (such as our proprietary 10-Week Shooting, Finishing, and Dribbling Programs), logos, layout structures, and codebase are the exclusive intellectual property of HoopsPlus. You may not copy, reverse-engineer, distribute, or create derivative works of our training models.
4. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under these terms shall be resolved in the state and federal courts located in San Francisco, California.
